30 Min Easy Rich and Creamy Beef Stroganoff

Theresa
I love quick and easy comfort meals and this one is a family fav in my house. It’s easy to whip up in under 30 mins or less. Although it’s not quite the classic version but thanks to the magic of beer, it lends a tremendous amount of depth in flavours. If you don’t have beer, sub for white wine, or chicken broth! I’m using ground beef in this recipe, but you can sub that for a good cut of beef and it would taste amazing!

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 Can Beer
  • ¼ Cup Flour
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Large Onion diced
  • 3-4 Cloves of Garlic minced
  • 2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 2.5 Cups Whole Milk
  • 3 tbsp Sour Cream
  • Shredded Italian Blend Cheese to taste
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Your favorite choice of pasta or egg noodles

Instructions

  • In a hot pan brown ground beef on medium-high heat until the beef is no longer pink.
  • Drain fat, return to heat and add in butter, onions, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Sear the beef until onions begin to caramelize and develop colour.
  • Add flour to the beef mixture and stir evenly. Let flour cook with the beef and onions for about 2 minutes.
  • Add in 1 can of beer and deglaze the bottom of the pan. Cook for another 1 minute to allow the alcohol to evaporate. The mixture will begin to thicken.
  • Stir in milk, sour cream, and garlic.
  • Taste sauce and adjust salt and pepper to your taste.
  • Turn off heat, stir in the appropriate amount of cheese that makes your heart flutter and your tummy warm with comfort.

Notes

In our house, our favourite choice of vessel to inhale this sauce with is rotini.
I also prefer stirring the cooked noodles into the finished sauce so that the pasta can absorb all the flavours.
Pro-tip:
For fusion flavours – enjoy this dish with a dollop or 4 of salsa. Trust me, it’s uniquely amazing. My husband calls it R-exican party! We’re weird people, I know. But the good weird type that creates yummy food.
